There are people you meet and there are people who see you. Kathy Moore is the second kind.
A Nashville local for 30 years and a group fitness instructor since 1986, Kathy has the wisdom of someone who has lived deeply, and the joy of someone who never stopped being curious. She is a self-described introvert who somehow makes every single person in the room feel like the most important one there, and the kind of person who will invite you into her home, feed you, and send you home feeling like family.
In 2013, Kathy saw POUND on TV and thought, why are we not doing this in Nashville? More than a decade and over a thousand classes later, she is still one of the most grounding presences in this community. The word people use to describe her is magnetic, and if you’ve been lucky enough to be in a room with her, you know why.
What she’s built in Nashville isn’t just a class — it’s a community. Walk in and you feel it immediately: people who see past their differences, support each other in and out of the studio, and show up for one another like family, where everyone can be loud, and strong, and a rockstar.
You can watch Kathy’s Pro Stories episode here — and see exactly what we mean.
Not only does her community show up for each other like family, some are literally family! If you know Kathy, you probably know her daughter McKenzie. Even though Kathy had already been teaching group fitness for 20+ years, POUND was the first program Kenzie actually wanted to do. She became a Pro, and when the world shut down in 2020, the two of them didn’t stop. They showed up on Zoom every week in full costumes, teaching themed virtual classes and making sure the POUND community had somewhere to go, something to laugh about, and a reason to move.
Kathy shows up for everything fully and with her whole heart. As she says “If you have a pulse, you have a purpose.” Whether it’s The Pathway Project, her epic fundraisers, hosting ICONs, Tour Crew, and Pros in her home and downtown Nashville Airbnb, or traveling somewhere heartachingly gorgeous — she is present, thoughtful, and full of joy.
That’s Kathy. We’re so glad she’s one of us. 💚
