The Biggest Myths (and Truths!) About Postpartum Fitness

    Let’s bust some persistent myths:

Myth 1: You have to “get your body back” fast.
Truth: Your body isn’t lost…it’s healing and evolving. Quick fixes can risk burnout, injury, and hormone disruption.

Myth 2: You can work out like you did before baby.
Truth: Postpartum, your core, pelvic floor, and joints NEED attention first. Hormones like relaxin keep your joints loose for months after delivery, increasing injury risk if you rush.

Myth 3: If you’re not sweating, it “doesn’t count.”
Truth: Gentle movement, like walking, targeted breathwork, and even rest, are foundational. You’re not starting over, you’re building a new version of strength.

Celebrate milestones, however small: that first walk, a deep breath, a stable squat. Dress for comfort, not for squeezing into old jeans. It’s okay to be a beginner again.

Three Steps to Postpartum Health: Replete, Reconnect, and Test

Ready for practical tools? Here’s your roadmap:

    1. Replete Before You Repeat.
Nutrition is your foundation. Continue a quality prenatal vitamin (like *FullWell – my favorite), eat meals with protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs, and don’t skip meals – even if you aren’t hungry yet. Consistency in eating is key to restoring your energy and hormonal balance.

    2. Reconnect Before You Rebuild.
Start slow. Focus on breathing, posture, and gentle stretching. Walking is the unsung hero of postpartum recovery – accessible, low-planning, and boosts your mental health. Mobility and stability before intensity!

    3. Test, Don’t Guess
If you’re months postpartum, taking care of yourself, and still feel off, advocate for deeper testing. Basic labs (like iron) and advanced screenings (like Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) can reveal root imbalances.

    Final Thoughts: Reclaim Your Journey

Postpartum fitness isn’t about racing back to a number on a scale, it’s about honoring the strength and resilience it took to bring life into the world. You deserve grace, support, and data-driven care on your path to feeling healthy and whole.

Let your comeback be about moving forward: stronger, braver, and wiser than ever before. You’ve got this, mama. And you’re already doing better than you think.
