Cheese sold at Wegmans stores in nine states and Washington, D.C., has been recalled over potential bacteria contamination, the Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday.

The soft cheese may contain Listeria, a bacterium that can cause serious—and sometimes deadly—foodborne illness.

If your cheese is included in the recall, throw it away immediately and monitor for signs of a Listeria infection.

The recalled cheese can be identified by the following information:

    • Product Name: Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese
    • Size: 8.8 oz.
    • UPC: 77890-53515
    • Best-By Dates: 7/26/25, 8/12/25, and 8/19/25

The recalled cheese was imported from France.

    Food and Drug Administration

Wegmans also recalled three other products that contain the contaminated cheese:

    • Wegmans Assorted Cheese Flight; 1 lb.; UPC: 2-77100-00000-0

    Food and Drug Administration

    • Wegmans Grilling Camembert with Tapenade & Roasted Tomatoes; 10 oz.; UPC: 2-77297-00000-0

    Food and Drug Administration

    • Wegmans Caramel Apple Pecan Topped Brie Cheese; 13 oz.; UPC: 2-77645-00000-3

    Food and Drug Administration

All of the affected items were sold between July 1 and Aug. 12, 2025.

The recalled products were sold in the cheese departments of all Wegmans locations in:

    • Connecticut
    • Delaware
    • Maryland
    • Massachusetts
    • New Jersey
    • New York
    • North Carolina
    • Pennsylvania
    • Virginia
    • Washington, D.C.

The recalled cheese may contain Listeria, which can cause serious and potentially life-threatening infections.

The cheese’s producer, Estancia Holdings of Cumming, Georgia, initiated the recall after being notified by its French supplier about the potential contamination.

To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled cheese.

If you recently purchased cheese from Wegmans, check to see if your item is part of the recall. If it is, throw it out immediately. If you’ve already consumed the cheese, watch for signs of a Listeria infection.

In healthy adults, Listeria can cause:

Certain groups—young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems—are at higher risk for severe illness from a Listeria infection.
