Evidenced-based fitness coach, Jeff Nippard returned to social media with an uplifting message this week, after taking time away due to the tragic passing of his fiancée, Stephanie.

The Canadian natural bodybuilder, powerlifter, and science-based trainer has been an important resource for the fitness community for many years, thanks to his scientific approach to getting both strong and shredded, but in March, Nippard ‘s Instagram account posted the sad news that his partner, Stephanie Buttermore had passed away. “As many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff, read the statement. “She will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family, and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.”

The much loved and pioneering doctor also had more than a million subscribers on YouTube, where she shared her own scientific approach to fitness, and the search to eliminate ovarian cancer.

Why Jeff Nippard Stepped Away From Social Media

Understandably, Nippard stepped away from social media in order to deal with his grief, returning sporadically to share that he’d been staying in his friend’s basement and was suffering with depression. He explained that even simple workouts had been a necessary challenge.

“Our first date was a shoulder workout, and I will never forget it,” shared the coach in a previous post, explaining that he’d travelled to Florida to meet Stephanie after introducing himself first via direct message. “We grew together as we learned from each other, travelled the world together, always supported each other, and used the power couple equation to build each other up in so many different ways,” he added. Their partnership continued to blossom, and the happy couple were engaged in 2022.

In April, a few weeks after Stephanie’s death, Nippard paid the following tribute. “I’m not sure if many of you know this, but during her PhD, she studied a protein called RHAMM, and found out that it could help detect ovarian cancer early,” he wrote. “Over the past few weeks, I read many of your messages, and the support has helped us all. Stephanie’s mom loves hearing stories about the difference her daughter made. We talk almost every day, and it’s been incredibly difficult but we’re making it together.”

Jeff Nippard Shares Positive Update on His Mental Health Recovery

On June 7, Nippard, who has helped countless individuals to make positive changes, provided a further update for his friends and fans. “I’m back to training in the Muscle Lab and it’s been good. I can feel my strength coming back and more importantly, I’m starting to enjoy training again,” he shared.

Nippard also revealed that while finding his feet, the coach intends to share content that had been put on hold, in addition to some “big experiments” that he has planned for this year. “Thank you for all the support lately. It means a lot.”

The fitness community followed up with an outpouring of love on hearing that Jeff Nippard is finding solace in his training. “I can’t explain how happy I get every time I see you post,” wrote one follower. “One step at a time man. Keep it up Jeff, we appreciate you,” added another. “Continued prayers for you and your family,” commented yet another.

With so much negativity on social media, it’s heartwarming to see that the fitness community is often a place to find solid support.
