Ed Kelce is sharing how he and ex-wife Donna are preparing for the wedding of the century between their son, Travis Kelce, and Taylor Swift.
“I think we’re as prepared as we can be for something like this,” Ed, 74, said in an interview with News 5 Cleveland’s John Kosich on Tuesday, August 26, just hours after Travis and Swift, both 35, announced their engagement.
Kosich predicted that the attention around the nuptials between the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the Grammy-winning pop star will be akin to a “royal wedding.” According to Ed, however, Travis and Swift are still humble at heart.
Ed said, “I kind of look at it the same way that I’m sure the Swifts do; this is still the little kid they raised at home. Yes, they’ve both had a lot of success in their endeavors, and they get a lot of notoriety and a lot of attention, but they’re still the same people that we raised. It just makes you feel good to see a couple this much in love.”

Kosich then asked Ed, “As the father of the groom, are you still on the hook for the rehearsal dinner, or do you think he’s gonna help you out with that?”
“I think he’ll help me out on that one,” Ed responded with a laugh.
Elsewhere in the interview, Travis’ proud father revealed how his son and future daughter-in-law broke the news of their engagement to him and Donna, 72.
“They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” Ed said.

He added, “I was at … a [Philadelphia] Eagles practice [that] … had 60,000 people at a public practice two weeks ago on a Sunday night. As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know.”
