    Drinking warm water with lemon and honey may help support hydration, reduce bloating, and soothe a sore throat. It also provides vitamin C, which supports immune function and skin health.

    Your body loses fluids overnight through breathing and sweating. Drinking warm water in the morning helps replenish fluids and support energy, concentration, and a normal body temperature.

    Adding lemon and honey can improve the taste of plain water, which may help you drink more fluids throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps your body get rid of waste, lubricate joints, and protect your spinal cord.

    Many people find warm lemon water with honey soothing when they’re dealing with a sore throat, seasonal allergies, or dry indoor air.

    Warm liquids can help calm throat irritation and loosen mucus. Honey coats the throat and has natural antimicrobial properties that may help reduce coughing and throat discomfort.

    A review of studies found honey was more effective than traditional treatments in easing symptoms of upper respiratory infections. It helped reduce coughing and made symptoms feel less severe. However, more studies are needed before honey can routinely be recommended over standard treatments.

    Vitamin C from lemon supports immune cell function. This can help boost your body’s natural defenses, protect against infections, and support the recovery process.

    Vitamin C also has strong antioxidant properties that help protect cells from damage linked to chronic disease. One glass of lemon water made with the juice of one lemon covers around 21% of your daily vitamin C needs.

    Staying well hydrated also supports immune health. Drinking enough water helps maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria and supports immune cells in the digestive tract, which protect your body from harmful germs.

    Warm liquids may also help relax intestinal muscles, which can ease digestive discomfort. Hydration also helps prevent constipation and keeps digestion moving.

    Lemon juice contains citric acid, which may help support stomach acid and food breakdown. It may also speed gastric emptying, helping food move through the stomach better. For some people, this could reduce feelings of fullness or bloating.

    While one drink isn’t likely to change your skin’s appearance right away, hydration plays an important role in skin moisture and elasticity. Drinking enough fluids helps prevent skin from looking dry or dull.

    Vitamin C from lemon also helps the body produce collagen, which supports skin strength and firmness.

    Starting your day with warm lemon water and honey may make it easier to cut back on sugary drinks like soda, sweet tea, or flavored coffee. Lowering your total added sugar intake supports weight management, heart health, and dental health.

    Using a small amount of honey adds sweetness and flavor without the large sugar load found in many sweetened beverages. For comparison, a can of soda can contain as much as 50 grams of added sugar, while one teaspoon of honey contains about 6 grams.

    Keep in mind that honey is still an added sugar. Most experts recommend limiting added sugars to less than 10% of daily calories. Using about 1 teaspoon in your drink can provide flavor while helping you stay within recommended limits.

    Adding warm lemon water with honey to your routine can be a comforting way to help you stay hydrated while boosting health. Here are some easy ways to include it:

    • Drink it in the morning to help replace fluids lost overnight
    • Stir honey into warm (not boiling) water to help preserve its beneficial compounds
    • Squeeze fresh lemon juice for vitamin C and a fresh flavor
    • Use about 1 teaspoon of honey for sweetness without too much added sugar
    • Rinse your mouth with plain water afterward to help protect tooth enamel
