    • Joanna Gaines’ six-ingredient biscuits make a flaky, buttery side perfect for any Thanksgiving plate.
    • Magnolia Table’s boxed biscuit mix offers an easy $9.99 shortcut with the same homemade flavor.
    • Upgrade biscuits with strawberry butter, or top with classic sausage gravy for comfort.

Among the bird and the veggie sides, some sort of bread or biscuit is necessary in every Thanksgiving spread. And if you need a classic recipe to try this November, Joanna Gaines’ biscuits are simply delicious.

With just six ingredients that you likely already have on hand (especially during the holidays), you can whip up Jojo’s Biscuits for a flaky, buttery side dish that will pair perfectly with everything else on your plate. All you need is self-rising flour, baking powder, baking soda, salted butter, eggs and buttermilk for this nostalgic recipe. It may take some time to prepare and bake, but these biscuits are worth the effort.

But if you don’t have the time to make biscuits from scratch this year, have no fear! You can snag a Magnolia Table boxed mix of Jo’s Buttermilk Biscuits this holiday season for the same homey flavor. Available at Target for just $9.99, it’s a perfect option for adding minimal-effort fresh bread to the table.

Whether you’re making them from scratch or by the box, you can enjoy these biscuits as they are or take them up a notch. Gaines herself loves spreading some strawberry butter on her homemade biscuits. She simply whips unsalted butter in a stand mixer and folds in strawberry preserves with a sprinkle of salt for a creamy, dreamy concoction. We also think our Pecan Pie Butter would be a sweet addition to any warm bread and biscuit—and it’s amazingly on-theme for Turkey Day!

You could even go for a savory combination by making Gaines’ Classic Sausage Gravy to top the biscuits. After cooking pork sausage in a large skillet, remove the meat and add in unsalted butter, all-purpose flour and milk. Whisk until smooth before stirring the sausage back in, and season with salt and pepper. It really is that easy to upgrade your biscuits into a comforting dish.

The best part? Make extra for next-day leftover breakfast sandwiches! This is my favorite thing to do with leftover biscuits, and it’s truly a game changer. You can store your biscuits in an airtight container for two days, or freeze them for months if you have extra leftovers.
