Jason Kelce always knew his brother, Travis Kelce, would meet his perfect match — even before Taylor Swift became part of their family.
During the Tuesday, September 2, episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, Jason, 37, gushed over Travis and the pop star, both 35, who announced their engagement late last month. When asked whether he ever had doubts about “party animal” Travis settling down, Jason said no.
“I never lost hope that would happen,” the retired Philadelphia Eagles star explained. “I think he was just — you’re young, you’re having fun, you’re figuring things out. Like I said, I didn’t even know how to talk to girls until I was in the NFL, and I still don’t even know if I knew how to talk to girls in the NFL. I was an NFL player, so now they wanted to talk to me. It became a lot easier, I don’t know if I ever got better at it. I probably still suck at it.”
Jason went on to praise their parents, Ed and Donna Kelce, for teaching him and Travis what’s important in life. “At all times, I know my brother’s intentions and who he is as a person and the values that my parents raised him with. How he treats people, how he treats women, all of these things,” he continued. “And eventually, I think it works out. … He lives his life the right way, he’s a great person, he’s unselfish. Everything he does, I think, would lead to him finding somebody that would want to be with him for all the right reasons and more.”

Travis first expressed interest in his now-fiancée when he revealed on his and Jason’s “New Heights” podcast in summer 2023 that he planned on giving her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her Eras Tour concerts in Kansas City — but he was denied. The couple eventually connected, and Swift was spotted at her first Chiefs game that fall.

Weeks before their engagement made headlines, Swift sat down with Travis and Jason on their podcast for a rare interview. Throughout the two-hour conversation, she opened up about recording her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, and revealed how she’s been spending time after wrapping her world tour. Swift also shed light on her relationship with Travis, who she referred to as a “human exclamation point.”
In a clip that has since gone viral, Jason was seen getting emotional while listening to Swift’s kind words about the tight end.

“First of all, I love my brother and I just want him to have the most fulfilled, best life as possible, and such a huge part of that is who you end up marrying, who you end up raising a family with,” Jason explained on Tuesday. “I know the kind of person he is and I’ve been blessed to get to know Taylor over the last couple years. I just think that they match so well together, they are unbelievably supportive of each other in both of their outlandishly successful worlds.”

Jason said he’d never heard someone encapsulate Travis’ personality so perfectly. “You’re listening to somebody describe your brother and … you’re hearing how she fully understands why Travis is an incredible human being. The human exclamation point is the best way I’ve ever heard Travis described in my life,” he added. “I think it’s such an accurate statement. The dude just brings joy to every place he ever is and people love him. He makes everything better.”
