Nearly 42,000 bottles of hair growth serums have been recalled nationwide, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Jan. 15. The items contain minoxidil, a hair loss medication found in products like Rogaine, which must be put in child-resistant packaging. The recalled products are not child-resistant, “posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children,” according to the CPSC. No incidents or injuries have been reported so far.
The recall affects two hair growth serums sold online through Amazon:
RootStim Beard Growth Serum, 5% Minoxidil
- Size: 60 ml (2.0 fl oz)
- Packaging: spray bottles in black and orange boxes
- Available from: November 2024 through September 2025

The situation follows another, smaller hair growth serum recall in December for about 840 bottles of Feel The Beard Minoxidil Beard Growth Oil for Men. That product was also sold on Amazon, from April to September 2025, and was recalled because its packaging was not child-resistant.

If you have any of the recalled products, secure them out of sight and reach from children, then contact the seller for a refund and replacement.
