A recall has been initiated for frozen salmon sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club in seven states, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today. A sample of the salmon, randomly collected by the FDA, tested positive for Listeria, a rare but potentially fatal cause of foodborne illness. No infections have been reported to date.
The recall affects bags of frozen salmon produced by Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. that can be identified with the following:
- Product name: Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon
- Size: 2 lbs
- UPC: 888670025963
- Lot number: 3896
The product was sold from Jan. 31 to Feb. 7, 2026, in BJ’s Wholesale Club locations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Check your freezer for the recalled salmon. If you have it, do not eat it. Call 1-888-628-0730 for instructions on how to obtain a full refund and what to do with the remaining product.
If you think you consumed contaminated salmon, monitor for Listeria symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Contact a healthcare provider if you develop these symptoms.
