    • Costco recalls Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene for faulty bottles.
    • The affected bottles may burst even when not handled, posing a laceration and injury risk.
    • The recalled wine was sold at Costco warehouse locations in 12 states.

There’s an active recall on sparkling wine sold at select Costco stores in the Midwest, according to a company announcement. This is due to the bottles potentially bursting, posing a laceration risk for consumers.

The wine impacted by this recall is 750-milliliter bottles of Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene sold at Costco warehouses in the following states: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The recalled prosecco was distributed and sold to customers from April 25 through August 26, 2025. Costco writes that the bottles may shatter even if unopened, not handled or not in use. Because of this, the wholesaler is urging consumers to dispose of the bottles by “wrapping the unopened bottle in paper towels and placing it in a plastic bag before placing it in the garbage to avoid risk from shattered glass.”

If you have the recalled wine, you should receive a member letter to show proof of purchase to your local Costco for a full refund. If you are experiencing any injury or illness after handing the defective wine bottle, seek medical attention immediately.

For questions about this recall, contact Ethica Wines at customercare@ethicawines.com or call their customer care number at 786-810-7132 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
