    Charlie Kirk Honored by New York Yankees Following Tragic Death

    Charlie Kirk Honored by New York Yankees Following Tragic Death

    The New York Yankees held a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk in the wake of his sudden death.

    The controversial political commentator was fatally shot on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.  He was 31.

    The baseball team honored Kirk ahead of its Wednesday game against the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium. As well as the moment of silence, the team paid tribute to Kirk by displaying a photo of him on the jumbotron alongside the words “Remembering Charlie Kirk.”

    “Before tonight’s game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk,” the New York Yankees posted via the team’s official X account.

    “Kirk founded the youth activist group ‘Turning Point USA’ and had become a fixture on college campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.”

    Kirk was shot around 1:20 p.m. local time as he was speaking at the university as part of his American Comeback Tour. Footage shared on social media showed Kirk appear to be shot in the neck while speaking from beneath a tent in the university courtyard.

    A manhunt for the shooter is still ongoing. Kirk is survived by his wife Erika Frantzve, and their daughter, 3, and son, 1.

    Turning Point released a statement on Wednesday evening confirming Kirk’s death.

    “It’s with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” read the statement.

    President Donald Trump also reported Kirk’s death in a post via Truth Social.

    “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump, 79, wrote. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

    Several Hollywood stars, including Chris Pratt and Candace Cameron Bure, have reacted to the news of Kirk’s death.

    “We love you, Charlie,” Cameron Bure, 49, wrote via Instagram. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

    For his part, Pratt, 46, wrote via X, “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.”
