Whether your back pain is caused by marathon training or poor posture, the search for relief can sometimes be as irritating as the pain itself. When heating pads and soothing stretches won’t do the trick, try reaching for these Biofreeze UltraFlex Lidocaine Patches. You can snag them for just $13 right now on Amazon.

These $13 patches help relieve aches and pains thanks to the four percent lidocaine formula, which acts as a local anesthetic. Lidocaine “works by causing temporary numbness/loss of feeling in the skin,” Hillary Brenner, D.P.M., a podiatrist based in New York and New Jersey, previously explained to Shape.

While most Biofreeze products rely on menthol to cool the area, this one works without the minty compound, creating an unscented product that disguises well under clothing. And when it comes to topicals, menthol isn’t really needed here. “Lidocaine or another numbing agent would likely provide the most effective localized pain relief,” Rebecca Marcus, M.D., board-certified dermatologist and founder of MaeiMD, previously told Shape.

Unlike a cream or gel, the patches allow for mess-free application, and the adhesion is designed to stick for up to eight hours. One reviewer, who “used these patches during [their] marathon,” said they “stay on for hours,” even when sweating.

Each patch is five-and-a-half by four inches, designed to cover both large and small areas of the body. One shopper called them “a game changer,” providing “immediate and long-lasting relief.” Another with “significant back pain” called the product a “life saver” for decreasing the intensity of their pain.

And while these patches work wonders on your back, their four-way flexibility makes them just as effective on rounded body parts, like shoulders or knees. “These patches are very flexible,” a final reviewer wrote, “[they] stay where you put them and work well to help with pain.”

The Biofreeze UltraFlex Lidocaine Patches are easy to apply, stay in place for hours, and help temporarily numb pain in targeted areas. They come in a pack of four large patches, and can be found on Amazon for just $13 right now.

And after you’ve shopped the Biofreeze UltraFlex Lidocaine Patches, try these similar products on Amazon.
