If we’re being honest, choosing a career path can feel like navigating a maze. With so many available options, it’s easy to get lost in the sea of job titles and industries.

But what if the key to unlocking your ideal profession isn’t your qualifications, but something far more fundamental: your personality?

“Knowing your personality type is the key to discovering what you truly enjoy doing,” says Eric Gee, a life coach who specializes in personality-based life coaching.

Knowing your personality type is the key to discovering what you truly enjoy doing.

Take this quiz to find out which types of careers will best suit your personality. Whether you’re at a career crossroads or just curious about what else might be out there, let’s explore the paths that might be a good fit for you.

    The Career Quiz

This quiz is designed to help you connect the dots between who you are and what you’re meant to do. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers. Just choose the response that describes you best.

    Who Is This Quiz For?

This quiz is for anyone who’s ever wondered, “What should I really be doing with my life?” Whether you’re a student unsure of what path to take or a professional feeling stuck or burned out, understanding the connection between your personality and your career can help you choose the right path for you.

This quiz is not intended to be a substitute for a clinical diagnosis, professional assessment, or the basis of any significant life decisions. Think of it as a friendly mirror for some self-discovery!

The Connection Between Career and Personality

Research shows us that our career paths are definitely influenced by our personality traits. Some personality traits are naturally a better fit for certain roles.

When your career aligns with your personality, your strengths feel like an asset versus a constant challenge, says Octavia Goredema, a career coach and author of “Prep, Push, Pivot.”

Plus, choosing a career you enjoy can help improve your chances of success. When we choose something we like doing, we’re likely to do it more often, which leads to enhanced ability and career mobility, says Gee. “Plus, on average we spend a third of our lives working, shouldn’t we make that third personally satisfying if we can?”

When there’s a mismatch between your personality and your role, it’s easy to fall into stress, burnout, or imposter syndrome, Goredema adds. “This isn’t because you’re not capable, it’s often because you’re working against the grain of who you are.”

“Is it possible to excel at a career in which you don’t truly love. Yes. Is it ideal? Definitely not,” says Gee.
