Costco has issued a recall for a bakery item sold in 22 states. Packages of mini beignets filled with caramel actually contain beignets with a chocolate-hazelnut filling, the company warned customers. The labeling error resulted in an undeclared hazelnut allergen, posing the risk of life-threatening allergic reactions for people with hazelnut allergies or sensitivities.
The recall affects Costco Mini Beignets filled with Caramel with the following information:
- Item number: 1181272
- Sold from: Jan. 16 to Jan. 30, 2026
The beignets were sold at stores in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.
The caramel-filled beignets are actually a new Costco item, stirring up some social media buzz when they were introduced in late January.
If you or someone in your household is allergic to hazelnuts, return the recalled beignets to Costco for a refund. If you can consume hazelnuts, the items are otherwise safe to eat. Visit the Costco customer service page if you have any additional questions.
