Select batches of Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano cheese have been recalled across the country due to potential Listeria contamination, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Monday. The agency gave the recall the highest risk level—Class I—meaning there’s a “reasonable probability” that eating the recalled cheese may cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall affects Pecorino Romano products from Ambriola Company, a Boar’s Head supplier. You can identify the two recalled cheese products sold under the Boar’s Head brand with the following:

Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese

    • Size: 6 oz
    • Item Code: 858
    • Case UPC: 042421-05858
    • Sell-by dates: Nov. 21, 2025, to March 12, 2026

    DoorDash

Boar’s Head Pre-Cut Pecorino Romano Wedge

    • Size: 7 oz
    • Item Code: 15160
    • Case UPC: 042421-15160
    • Sell-by dates: Nov. 25, 2025, to May 11, 2026

    Big Y

The recall also affects the following pre-made products with the contaminated cheese:

Boar’s Head EverRoast Chicken Caesar Salad

    • UPC: 850042244142
    • Best-by dates: Nov. 9, 2025, to Nov. 22, 2025

Boar’s Head EverRoast Chicken Caesar Wrap

    • UPC: 85004224455
    • Best-by dates: Nov. 9, 2025, to Nov. 22, 2025

According to the FDA, the recalled items were sold at Kroger stores in Kentucky and Indiana. Big Y (with stores in Massachusetts and Connecticut) and Tops (with locations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont) also issued recalls for the cheeses.

Check your fridge for the recalled products. The items are past their shelf lives and should already be out of distribution, but the FDA warned that consumers may still have them. If you do, throw them out immediately.

If you think you consumed contaminated cheese, watch for symptoms of Listeria, including:

    • Fever
    • Flu-like symptoms, such as muscle aches and fatigue
    • Headache
    • Stiff neck
    • Confusion
    • Loss of balance
    • Seizures
