Certain Hostess Ding Dongs are being pulled from shelves across the U.S. due to the possibility of mold contamination.

The recall notice was first posted by J.M. Smucker Co., the parent company of Hostess, on Aug. 20.

Check if your recently purchased Ding Dongs are included in this latest recall, and toss or return any affected products.

The recall affects three Ding Dong products:

    • Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong Single Serve; two-count; UPC: 8-88109-01002
    • Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong; 10-count; UPC: 8-88109-11061
    • Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong Family Pack; 16-count; UPC: 8-88109-11092

The potentially contaminated products also have a best-by date between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3, 2025.

The recalled Ding Dongs may be contaminated with mold.

The affected Ding Dongs may develop mold before their expiration date, according to the recall notice.

J.M. Smucker Co. said it identified a mechanical issue during production that created conditions potentially allowing for mold growth. The company said it has resolved the problem, and only five lots of Ding Dongs are affected.

According to Tops Friendly Markets, a supermarket chain that carried the affected Ding Dongs, the recall has the highest risk level, Class I. This means eating the recalled products may cause serious health problems.

Check your pantry for the recalled Ding Dongs. If you have the affected products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them for a refund or replacement.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can call Hostess customer service at 1-800-483-7253 or fill out a form on the Hostess “Contact Us” website.
